500 RYT with an emphasis in Trauma Informed Yoga

Class is Tuesday night 5:30pm “Flow into Stillness”

Participants can expect to move intentionally connecting the breath to each dynamic movement and eventually flowing their way into stillness as a way to tap into their heart intelligence. The heart sends more signals to the brain than any other part of the body. In order to navigate the world through our heart intelligence, we must find coherence between the mind and the heart. That is the ultimate goal with each Flow into Stillness Class. Favorite Mantra: Om Gam Ganapataye Namaha ; Favortie pose: Pigeon

200 YTT at A Level Above

Class is Thursday at 5:45pm “Yoga Y’all”

It took me half a lifetime to realize just how deep my yoga practice had rooted itself. Everything changed when I saw a Midwest yoga teacher who looked like a lumberjack and strummed John Prine tunes. That's when I knew I had something special to offer—my own brand of down-to-earth yoga and musings for people seeking a little more depth and connection. I live by the saying, “Yoga is for every body, but not everybody is for yoga.” To me, that means if you have a body, treat it like a friend—nurture it, listen to it, and show it kindness. Of course, how you choose to care for it is entirely up to you! I completed my 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training at A Level Above Yoga in Greensboro, NC, and I’m excited to share my practice with others in a way that’s grounded, honest, playful and always evolving.

Favorite Mantra: “Relax with what is.” Favorite Pose: Pigeon

Lauren Stauffer

Lauren holds a B.S. in Human Nutrition, Foods, and Exercise from Virginia Tech and earned her RYT-200 at In Balance Yoga Studio in Blacksburg, VA in November 2023. A forever learner, she will be attending medical school in July 2026 with the goal of becoming an integrative health family physician.  Lauren approaches yoga through the lens of Yogas Chitta Vritti Nirodha—yoga is the cessation of the fluctuations of the mind.

In her classes, Lauren honors the historical and cultural roots of yoga, weaving in elements from the Eight Limbs of Patanjali to nurture both body and mind. She believes deeply in the inclusivity of yoga and strives to make all poses accessible to every student, regardless of experience or background. Her teaching fosters a space of bodily and mental curiosity, encouraging students to cultivate presence while also allowing them the time and space to process their individual needs at their own pace. She incorporates hands-on assists—not as corrections, but as gentle, healing tools to help students connect more authentically with their bodies.

Lauren’s dedication to accessibility was strengthened through her work as an undergraduate research assistant in the PARCI Lab under Dr. Samantha Harden, where she studied access to yoga in underrepresented communities, including rural populations, people of color, and larger-bodied individuals. Beyond the studio, Lauren finds joy in connecting with others, being in nature, and exploring new cultures. Her passion for traveling stems from the deep fulfillment she feels when meeting people from all walks of life and learning from their perspectives and traditions.

Aron Lanie

Aron is a lifetime athlete and former U.S. Army paratrooper and OIF/OEF veteran. In addition to running, cycling, hiking, and swimming, she began practicing yoga for physical fitness, athletic recovery, and to address pain from physical injuries. Over time she also saw improvement in her emotional well being. The healing and comfort she experienced in mind and body through yoga and fitness led her to attend Earth Yoga teacher training in Koh Samui, Thailand for her 200 hour yoga teacher certification. Since then she has studied trauma sensitive yoga and adaptive yoga through the Veterans Yoga Project and the Prison Yoga Project, and became a certified Warriors at Ease teacher. She has also completed Integrative Restoration (iRest) yoga nidra meditation level one training.  Although she had had a degree in Fine Arts from Purdue University she returned to school in 2020 to study Recreation Therapy at University of North Carolina Wilmington and is now a certified and licensed Recreation Therapist as well as a Certified Inclusive Fitness Trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine.  She has facilitated a wide range of adapted sports, fitness, and recreation programs at gyms, yoga studios, community centers, corporate settings, retreats, schools, long term care facilities, medical facilities, and at workshops. Through various businesses and nonprofits, she has taught and coached a wide range of individuals, including veterans, children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, adults with physical, emotional, and cognitive disabilities, and people who have been incarcerated. Her intention is to create classes where students can feel welcome and at ease regardless of their current conditioning and fitness, and feel empowered because well being is for every body.
